Challenge
With the help of an interactive map, visitors could discover the various animal enclosures in the dark. Live locations made it possible to recognise which animal the visitor was eye-to-eye with at that moment. This triggered a pop-up in the app with information about the animal – and this is where my animations were shown.
My solution
The animations are based on Defigners illustrations and are used to bring different animals to life in the app. I have opted for subtle and soft movements that contribute to the dreamy, nocturnal exploration of the zoo.

Amsterdam zoo ARTIS opened its doors at night during the Amsterdam Light Festival. With the team at Defigners, I helped design the mobile app and brought the animals in the app to life through colorful animations.
